the reason

Sunday, February 27, 2011 by darkheart
salam dear reader. how have we been? actually, how have i been lately? crying a hell lot of course no thanks to loneliness. honestly i miss the life that i've left behind. my family, my friends. i wish i could just fly back and forth from kelantan to perth everyday because hell, i miss them a lot.

i miss my besties. i miss us being all happy and carefree although we were about to face a huge exam (remember spm?), i miss how close we are as friends. truth be told, nobody here could replace you guys. i know i'm not much of a likeable person, and my popularity is close to zero but you guys became my friends nevertheless, and that's why i value you guys a lot. i miss YOU.

my family is my achilles heel. no matter where i go and how old i am, they're always on my mind. it's no wonder why right now, i swear i could die from homesickness. i miss mama, abah, adik adik. life would be coulourful and stressfree if only they were here with me. *knapa la gatal sgt nak study overseas?*
my best friend happens to be my own sister. she's the only soul who really understands me. my very own antidote.i miss you.

tomorrow marks the starting point of a long race. for more or less 4 months, i'll be struggling for my future. second year pharmacy is going to be tough and frankly, i'm more frustrated than scared. frustrated because apart from having nobody to actually talk to here, i am dead broke *duit makan pon x cukup* and most of all, i feel lonely. i miss my old life. ada satu masa siap berdoa kat Tuhan supaya dipertemukan jodoh, so he can take care of me, cheer me up when i'm sullen and most importantly, accompany me and be my best friend, in place of my besties. i wish he was with me but God knows where he is right now. honey, come fast, i need you.

been crying a lot lately and feeling insecure. feels as if there's someone tiptoeing behind me, waiting to jump on me. i don't know why that feeling is there. i feel unsafe. this place feels so empty and i'm on the verge of depression. strength is running low and i can barely pick myself up anymore.

i won't be writing for quite sometime now. lots of studies to do. but insyaALLAH, i'll write here again when the time is right. until then.

ps- duit macam xde nak baik winter nanti. :(

fear of falling

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 by darkheart
it's been almost two days since i arrived back in perth. i don't exactly know how to describe it. all those emotions that i'd left in perth before departing to malaysia 3 months ago, are slowly creeping back into my life. the worst thing is, i can't cast them off anywhere. it feels as if i'm at a cul de sac, no sideways exits. stuck and unable to move forward.

"Sitting in an empty room
Trying to forget the past
This was never meant to last,
I wish it wasn’t so…"

back at home, my family was always around, comfort surrounded me always. after all that had happened last year, keeping everything to myself was the worst mistake i've ever done in my entire life.
"you were hurting all this while, all by yourself?"

i  found inner peace and solace only after confiding all that had happened to those who were concerned. but that solace was only for a fleeting moment. now i'm back at the same spot. stuck in a loophole, always arriving at the starting point no matter how hard i try to escape the circle.

"I know what it takes to move on,
I know how it feels to lie,
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven’t got"

i keep telling myself that i should just move on, no matter how big the hurdle in front of me is, but what am i to do when these treacherous thoughts keep recurring in my mind? just when i thought that i was better off, i fell  flat on the ground again.
"Whenever your will starts crashing down
That's when you find me."

my upringing was hard. my father trained me into becoming a person so tough, inside and out, so much that i can't even let anyone in anymore. let alone after what had happened. i'm constantly surrounded by a mass of helping hands but somehow, i can't reach out to any of them. for fear that i might be rejected once more.

"you look kind of different. you don't look like yourself anymore"
i don't blame destiny. this was decreed by God Himself and i accepted it with open arms. i know He will set me 'free' someday. someday.

"tiada duka yang abadi didunia
Tiada sepi merantaimu selamanya
Malam 'kan berakhir, hari 'kan berganti
Takdir hidup 'kan dijalani

Tangis dan tawa nyanyian yang mengiring
Hati yang rindukan cinta dijalan-Mu
Namun ku percaya hati meyakini
Semua akan indah pada akhirnya"

my soul is screaming for help but i'm always stifling it, because i know that if i ever voice it out, no one will come to my rescue. no one ever does. everybody seems to be deceived by my outer tough layer that they've forgotten the soft, fragile core inside of me. but i don't blame them. it just saddens me that i have everyone to turn to except the courage to voice it out and to trust again.

"What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
And trying to figure out what it’s like moving on
And i don’t even know what kind of things I’ve said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin?
The hardest part of ending Is starting again"

i'm in a lot of trouble aren't i?

ps- i have to go back temporarily to my family this june. i have to. i need time to heal, will you be patient?

alas, EARWAX!

by darkheart
salam dear reader. i don't know if i should feel sorry for not updating my journal here as frequently  i used to. i was by all means, trying to pick myself up after being severely beset by some financial crises, but alhamdulillah, i think everything is improving, the fog is finally clearing.

today i had an appointment, made at the very last minute before i fly off to perth once again, prompted by the fact that i was slowly losing my hearing faculty. it all started way back in 2007, when i was still in high school.
but first off

do you constantly try to remove your earwax by means of cotton buds?

if so, stick around, you're definitely going to love this.

i was supposedly cleaning one of my earcanals from earwax when i suddenly felt as if something was pushing against my eardrum and i couldn't hear properly. so i intensified my effort in trying to remove more earwax to clear the clog, but i only made things worse. by then, i could only hear partially, i had, what i might say, lost my faculty of hearing, well, partially and temporarily.

panicked as i was, i told my mom all about it, convinced that she'd know what to do. she dripped some earwax softening fluid into my affected ear, and simply waited for the then-hardened-pile-of-intense-brown-earwax to sluggisly slide out of the ear canal. so i waited. and waited, it was the longest waiting i'd ever done. my hearing improved after a couple weeks, enough to lead me into thinking that the clogging earwax was gone forever, vanished.

alas, i was led astray.

i kept having hearing problems eversince. whenever i told my mom about it, she would simply tell me to stop shoving those earphones and blasting my ears with super loud music.
i used to love listening to loud music  and when i was told that i should cease doing so, i found it hard to comply with. force of habit i guess. every now and then i would satisfy my constant addiction for loud music, especially when i was experiencing  a downward  spiral in my emotional wellbeing. it got worse as i got into college. a lot worse.

i was frequently blaring my ears with loud music that one day, my right ear started to ring. and it was a continuos ringing. i didnt want to panic. so i just brushed it aside, knowing the fact that constant ringing is the first sign of hearing loss due to loud noises, i.e. loud, blaring music in my ears.

the constant ringing lasted until this morning.

being a  well established and respected pharmacist at a hospital really plays a lot to my mom's best advantages. she knows some doctors and sure enough she can pull some strings when in dire need of a doctor's diagnosis and treatment.

so today my mom called up Dr. Irfan to set up an appointment for me. i was only able to see him at around 10.30 am. we waited for almost 2 hours. a string was pulled but it's the hospital's policy to treat every patient fair and square. we still had to wait in line eventhough mom knows dr. irfan very well. it was no matter though, because in truth i was scared of what i might find out from the doctor.

"dhamirah, you can come in now"
a nurse ushered me into the examining room and at first sight, i thought, how cool the room was, equipped with state-of-the-art examining instruments, scopes etc. i was astonished.

dr irfan told me to sit on the examination chair (if you'd call it a chair. bahahaha) and started shoving this long cylindrical scope into my left ear.

"oh my. i think i am going to faint" he enthused. i was dumfounded. why would a doctor faint at the sight of their patient's ear canal. and then, dr irfan put me out of my misery and showed me what it looked like in my left ear canal.

and shocked i was.

the ear canal was stuffed with earwax. there was no room that had no earwax in it. stuffed to the max. completely blocked.

my right ear was no different. this simply begged a question.

"are you still able to hear?" both dr irfan and the nurse enquired.

"yeah.." was the only respond i could reciprocate. my eyes were riveted on the images of my ear canals. eeew. gross. i'd been living with most of my ear canals plugged with sticky earwax. double eew for that.

"we're going to do a suction. we'll clear the canals" dr irfan assured me.

i was led into another room jam packed with a bunch of fourth year medical students. jam packed, and my hijab was everywhere, i cant even begin to describe my hair jutting from under my hijab. sigh. nevermind, they're going to be doctors, by this time tomorrow they would have forgotten what i'd looked like this morning.

dr irfan carried out the suction procedure successfully. i felt as if someone was drilling through my skull, eerie. but it was a relief to have normal hearing again.

while my ear wax was getting sucked out, a med student came in through the drapes. dr irfan asked her

"so what might be the cause of this problem?" he was referring to me. i was fighting not to answer that question.

the student struggled to answer the question, sheepishly smiling at dr irfan.
"the patient tried to remmsncjd" she was practically slurring.

dr irfan continued, further intimidating the student:
"there's only one cause to this problem. what is it?"

the student stuttered.

then, dr irfan said:
"it's chronic use of cotton buds."

i smiled at this. probably because i knew what had caused my blocked ears in the first place. :)

ps- dr irfan says: don't ever try to remove your earwax using cotton buds, because there's only enough space in the ear canal to fit a cotton bud and pushing the cotton bud into the ear canal only means pushing the earwax further towards the eardrum.the earwax will come out on its own accord.

salam dear reader. you, yeah, i'm pointing at you, why are you whispering behind my back? if you have a question about me, then all you have to do is just ask. ask me and nobody else, i'll be more than happy to give you the answers. anyways i just want to remind you that whatever i do, it's none of your business. i am not using filthy words here, just plain understandable english, back off.

you know, dalam orang duk diam diam, rupe rupenye ade yang terkantoi mangumpat and menyalah sangka kita. tapalah. itu antara kamu dengan Tuhan kamu. aku bising pasal masalah aku ke hape ke, aku x nyusahkan manusia lain ok. dah, malas nak marah. kang datang balik baran aku nanti kang, aku gak yang rugi. xde apalah.aku nak bising ka hapa ka, aku punya pasal la. xyah la sibuk2 pasal hidup org lain, just pikir pasal diri sendiri sudahla. evry man for himself la katakan. xyahla du mengumpat soksek kat belakang. berdosa la.

aku malas nak citer lagidah pasal masalah aku kat sini. nnt x pasal2 buat korg nak mengumpat aku lagi. x payahlah.

anyhow i just wanted to share with you my dear reader something that i've been indulging in for the past few weeks; motivational books. at the moment, i'm still trying to finish off this amazing book by steve chandler ;

ever come across this book? it's a treasure. a must buy, hands down.

sure, it's written by a non believer but believe you me, we can't just restrict our mind to books written by our brothers and sisters. even hamza yusof reads some english classics and phylosophical books written by ancient thinkers and look where he is now. selagi x bercanggah dengan agama and aqidah kita bacalah, tambah ilmu.

ps- i'm missing mama and abah already. i really dread february the 20th.kadang kadang saya pon bole melenting. tapi saya still respect anda cuma jangan cross that line that i've drawn between us. yes, there's a line between us in case u didnt know. maaf jika i came across rude, saya mahu my own space. saya bukan robot.

i am not a quitter but sometimes..

by darkheart
at my lowest emotional level, i do break easy. by the way, salam dear reader. let's take a moment to thank ALLAH swt, for giving us another day to live. life is precious. make the best out of it and don't forget to remember ALLAH swt much in whatever we do.

mom is not around, called away on work again. abah too, but the only difference is, abah's coming home today and mom's not coming home until tomorrow.

after sending off my big brother who was flying out to kl yesterday, with only five of us left at home, i just couldnt help but to cave in. now all i have is this sinking feeling in the pit of my gut, the feeling of loneliness.

alhamdulillah, i got the chance to see both my big brothers before i head back to perth where misery will surround me once again. i had a fantastic time in kl, travelling with my family, having good talks with my siblings. it was just awesome. i had a blast. after a long 9 months away from my loved ones, and now, i feel depressed at the prospect of going back again. i don't want to go back. *tula, gatal sangat nak study overseas kan. hambik ko*

time fleets. after next week, it's going to be a looong year for me. sigh.

dark clouds hovered above us yesterday, we lost a wonderful person . she was a mom to a very good friend of mine and  frankly she was close to being a mother to me too. she was there when my mom couldn't.

"it's ok. come, hold my hand.it's ok"

her words never failed to provide comfort to us all. always warm and welcoming.dearest, i am sorry for making you share your mom with me that day, if you'd still recall. i never got to thank her. she was indeed an amazing person, and although she succumbed to her ailment, she was a fighter, hands down. i wish you well on the other side of the world auntie, and i pray that ALLAH swt have mercy on you and place you among the mukminoons. amiin. rest in peace auntie, i'll miss you.

ps- dearest hidayah, i wish i could do more for you. be brave and patient girl, you're one strong chic, and you know that. may ALLAH ease your journey from now on. amiin.
al fatihah
